GRAND FINALS C Grade played against Bundoora at Greensborough War Memorial Oval. Captain Luke Eyre won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first. Our top order failed to sparkle under some consistent Bundoora bowling as we fell to 4/37. Tom Money (48) and Colin Baker provided some resistance with a 60 run stand. On their dismissal it was Adrian Craze (29no) who took up the attack but he unfortunately ran out of partners as we were dismissed for 164 in 71 overs. With 9 overs to play on day 1 we were keen for a couple of early wickets but they were able to get to stumps unscathed. We started day 2 needing everything to fall our way but it wasn't to be with some variable bowling and solid batting never giving us a chance. Bundoora passed us 1 wicket down before we conceded the match with Bundoora 2/223. Adrian Craze was our standout bowler taking 0/19 off 11 overs, capping off a good Grand Final for him, while Tim Edgell and Colin Baker were the wicket-takers. A disappointing finish for C Grade but it was a great effort for a team with a number of young players to make it to the GF. D Grade are still going in a thriller versus Bundoora at Lower Eltham. After losing the toss and being asked to bowl we were cock-a-hoop to bowl them out for 157 in 51 overs thanks to tight bowling by Rian Boddy (3/44), Damien Caple (2/22) and ‘keeper come spinner Luke Baker (4/37). The early loss of leading run-scorer Adam Raphael saw us move to 1/18 by stumps. The tables turned on day 2 as Bundoora came out with all guns blazing, decimating our middle order as we collapsed to 8/47 before an 87 run partnership between Rian Boddy (61) and Luke Baker (29) gave us a sniff. When Rian was dismissed we were an agonizing 6 runs short, bowled out for 151. With only half of the allocated overs gone, Hoobs ignored some premature celebrations by Bundoora to send them promptly back in. This time it was Bundoora who collapsed under an onslaught by Capes (5/33) as they fell to 7/40, before recovering slightly to be 9/98 at stumps, a lead of 104, with a full 68 overs remaining this Saturday. The Women's team wrapped up their Grand Final series with a 2-0 victory over Yarra Valley. Sent in in game 1, we put on a much better showing than the week before making 3/146cc thanks to Liz Pierce (67no) and Johnno (41). Yarra Valley could only muster 101 in reply with Jess Surace taking 3/30. Yarra Valley tried a different tack in game 2, this time batting after winning the toss, but it was more of the same, as we bowled tightly to restrict them to 8/100cc. This time it was Kate Ryan (2/12) and Kerryn Johnson (2/19) who applied the brakes. Liz Pierce (34no) and Johnno (43no) backed up as we achieved the total in 35 overs, making 2/103, to win back to back VWCA One Day Shield Premierships. Congratulations girls on another remarkable season.
SEMI-FINALS A Grade travelled to Mernda to take them on in the semi-final. We lost the toss and were sent in under threatening skies. We were unable to find any answers to a combination of fine bowling, a slow ground and some old fashioned finals pressure as we lost regular wickets to be 8/64 when the rain came. Elliot Smale was the only bat to have an impact making 21. We were able to add another 14 on Sunday to be bowled out for 78. We came out firing with the ball and grabbed an early wicket, but despite continuing to get regular wickets our total was simply not enough and they were able to pass us 7 down. Trent Wellington (3/26) and Travis Baker (3/16) were the best of our bowlers. Congratulations to A Grade on making the finals and despite the unfortunate ending we have plenty to look forward to in the coming years with a great blend of youth and experience. C Grade took on Diamond Creek and in a quirk nearly as good as winning the lottery got to play at Eltham Central. We lost the toss and were asked to bowl and were fortunate enough to snatch a couple of early wickets before Creek settled. It was a steady battle after that with both teams enjoying the upper hand at times, thanks mostly to a few rain interuptions. When the heavens finally opened they had moved to 4/150. We came out on day 2 and bowled some great restrictive lines to dismiss them for 237. Tim Edgell bowled particularly well finishing with 4/36 while Nick Sonneman took 3/33. We got off to a steady start with the bat but an 85 run partnership between Luke Eyre (52) and Liam Money (54) put us in a great position at stumps. A fine 44 from Tom Money on Monday moved us to 7/240, past Diamond Creek and into the Grand Final. D Grade played South Morang at Mill Park Lakes and sent them in after winning the toss. It proved a good move by Captain Hoobin as Greg Wilson (4/30) took care of the top order while Luke Baker (3/29) wrapped up the tail as South Morang made 142. A 50 run partnership for the 2nd wicket between Adam Raphael (30) and Matt Newell (40) put us in strong position before a flurry of wickets had us 7/104. Some good batting from Luke Baker (30no) and Greg Wilson got us to 8/144 and into the Final. E Grade played Eltham at home. Disco Dave won the toss and batted but the fun ended there as we were bundled out for 82 in only 35 overs. Anthony Dean provided the bulk of those with 32. On our ground it was never going to be enough despite some good bowling they moved to 4/85. Congratulations on a great season boys. G Grade were up against the only team to defeat them during the season, Bundoora, who won the toss and batted. Denis Maley (3/36) was the pick of our bowlers as Bundoora batted the overs to make 8/256cc. When it came to our turn to bat we were unable to establish a partnership of any substance in making 133 in 44 overs. Nathan Maley top scored with 45. Congratulations to the G Grade team on performing so well throughout the season in what is always an ever-changing line-up. The Women's team dodged a bullet on Saturday moving though to the Grand Final after securing a draw against Geelong thanks to the rain. We were bundled out for only 97 and Geelong were well on their way to victory at 2/78 when it poured. Makes the effort during the season worthwhile! ROUND 11 A Grade took on North Eltham Wanderers in a must win game to have any chance of making the finals. Winning the toss we sent them in. It took a while to get the first wicket, then 3 more to Travis Baker had us back on top. A couple of steady partnerships then put paid to any hope of knocking them over early. Luke Morgan (4/41) was then able to knock over the tail to dismiss NEW for 247. With 6 overs to stumps we got through unscathed to be 0/19. There were a million different finals scenarios flying around at the commencement of day 2 but most important was to lose as few wickets as possible. We set about this the right way with a fantastic 147 run opening partnership between Simon Salpigtidis and Daniel Hoyne (70). Simon then combined with Ellksy (42no) for a 75 run stand to ensure the win. Simon finished with a sensational 111 as we moved to 3/257 before pulling stumps knowing that all the other Barclay Shield results had fallen our way and we had finished 3rd. B Grade also won the toss and bowled against North Eltham Wanderers. A 150 run partnership for the 2nd wicket had us well and truly on the back foot before Tim Edgell was able to break through. 3 wickets apiece to Nick Dalton and Marty Anderson saw NEW dismissed for 287 in a great fightback. We were able to negotiate the tricky session to stumps to be 0/26. We were able to add another 60 for the first wicket on day 2 to really have NEW on the back foot. Simon Weightman (62), Riley Morgan (54) and a century from Jim Hartigan (114no) gained us an easy victory as we finished at 4/292 in only 50 overs. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to lift B Grade into the final four as we finished 5th by percentage. C Grade took on Plenty in a rare home game. Winning the toss and sensibly batting with a berth in the finals secured some solid top order batting by Nathan Bragg (71), Lindsay Brophy-Hassett (55), Paul Bohan (49) and Luke Eyre (29) got the total beyond 200 before a lower order collapse had us dismissed for 297. A wicket to Tim Money in the final over saw Plenty 1/20 at stumps. Some cavalier batting and sloppy fielding had Plenty always closer than comfortable, but 4 wickets to Tim Money and 2 apiece to Brett Lewis and Adrian Craze got C Grade over the line but only just, with Plenty belting 291. C Grade have finished 3rd. D Grade won the toss and batted against Camrea Taipans. Matt Newell (30), Mick Canik (36) and Lachie Potter (24) laid the foundations while James Gedye (44no) and Greg Wilson (47) provided the icing on the cake as we made 9/294cc. There were some nervous moments on day 2 as Captain Hoobin experimented with some bowling pre-finals. They moved past 200 for the loss of only 2 wickets before Greg Wilson (5/60) tore apart the remaining batting to dismiss Camrea Taipans (without a Y!!!) for 285. D Grade have also finished 3rd, making the finals for the 8th consecutive season!!! E Grade had a day out against Panton Hill at home. Winning the toss and batting we kicked off with a 215 run opening partnership between Dave Phelan (71) and a sensational Sean Gaylor (134). The A Grade boys were getting tired from throwing back the ball but E Grade weren't quite done with Sean Money knocking up 107no to close at a massive 4/404cc. Panton Hill were never in the hunt on day 2 as 4 wickets to Luke Gaylor and 2 each to Sean Money and Glenn Smyth had them dismissed for 170. With 27 overs to play, Captain Dave Phelan sniffed some blood (and a large crowd watching A Grade) and sent them back in. John Miles (3/4) and Gandhi Ali (2/5) had us in it early but some steady batting swung the pendulum back. Dave threw the ball to Glenn Smyth who promptly bowled the 2 incumbent bats. Needing 3 wickets in the final overs Chook delivered, taking the 10th wicket on the final ball of the day, much to the delight of the crowd and the A Graders listening to Gibbo, to seize an important outright win for E Grade. Chook finished with 5/5 and E Grade finished 2nd. F Grade had a top of the table clash with South Morang. Ragsy and the boys would be happy to put this one begind them as only Nik Martin (25), Joe Bergman (23) and Jason Wood (33) were able to make double figures as we were bowled out for 117. With 30 overs to face South Morang were able to secure first innings points as they moved to 4/150 at stumps. They batted on into the second day, making 256 before stumps were pulled. It was a disappointing finish for F Grade as they finished the season 5th, despite only losing 3 games. G Grade played on Sunday against Bundoora. Batting first we struggled as 6 of our bats made scores of 1 or less to be bundled out for 116. Alex Marr was the top scorer with 27 opening the batting. They didn't have too many issues rolling along to 2/125 at stumps. An overnight declaration had us batting again and we made a much better fist of it this time, moving to 2/121 before stumps were pulled. The Women's team faced Brighton District who batted first. 2 wickets each to Jess Surace, Kerry Johnson, Kate Ryan and Priscilla Jordan had them bowled out for 116. We cruised to 2/120 in reply with Johnno (45no), Kathryn Ennor (29) and Liz Pierce (28no) doing the damage. The Veterans lost a very tight semi-final last weekend against Lower Eltham. We won the toss and bowled. They batted their overs to make a competitive 164, Phil Money (2/12) and Rob Archibald (3/31) had our best figures. In an extremely close game Mick Doyle (37), Joe Fleming (27) and Russell Grubb (21) kept us up with the required rate. Needing 2 off the final ball to tie we were only able to find an outstretched Lower Eltham hand on the boundary line to deny us a spot in the final. Congratulations to the Vets on another remarkable season. ROUND 10 A Grade are playing Diamond Creek in a match that will mean curtains for the loser. They won the toss and sent us in. Creek struck a telling blow early, forcing Simon Salpigtidis to retire hurt after a blow to the head. Shortly thereafter we were in all sorts of trouble falling to 4/15 before Nick Ellks (38) and Steve Gleeson (32) were able to put together a 50 run partnership. It was a battle all day in the face of some tight bowling on a large and slow ground but the return of Simon (30) and David Newell (25no) ensured that we batted our overs to make 9/154cc. B Grade were at home to Diamond Creek. We won the toss and batted. Simon Weightman (82) was on fire early but he received little support from the top order such that when he was dismissed we were 5/110. A couple more cheap wickets had us staring down the barrel but our tail managed to wag with Marty Anderson (39), Tim Edgell (33) and Sam Bowman (33) ensuring a competitive total of 250. With 16 overs to bowl to stumps we were a little loose and they were able to move to 0/61. C Grade lost the toss against North Eltham Wanderers and bowled. It was a bit of a stalemate for the first 20 overs with some resolute batting and tight bowling producing no wickets and few runs. After that regular wickets were the feature with Adrian Craze, Brett Lewis and Tim Money taking 2 each while Tom Money chipped in with 3 at the end in a great team effort on a very flat track. They were bowled out for 198. With 14 overs to face we moved to 0/36. D Grade played South Morang at the massive Mill Park Lakes. We batted first, after a couple of early wickets some steady batting by Adam Raphael (29) had us back on track before falling to 7/109. 90 runs for the last 3 wickets thanks to Greg Wilson (28) and Rian Boddy (38no) saw us to a total of 199. At stumps South Morang had moved to 0/16. E Grade won following a forfeit by Research. F Grade wrapped up 1st innings points on day 1 against North Eltham Wanderers. Losing the toss proved to be a blessing in disguise as 3 wickets to Jason Wood and 2 each to Damien Dean, Shawn Graetz and Brad Gedge knocked NEW over for 79. We moved to 3/86 at stumps with another good innings by Sean Money (42no) and Jason Wood (25no) setting up the possibility of a valuble outright. G Grade have also wrapped up 1st innings points after dismissing Thomastown United for only 64. Ben Gibellini (3/17) and Nathan Maley (3/7) did the bulk of the damage. We raced to 2/230 with Nathan Maley (118no) and Lachie Potter (59no) putting on a 200 run partnership. The Women's team played Altona North. We bowled first and dismissed them for 155 with Liz Pierce, Nicki Callinan and Kate Ryan taking 2 wickets each. We cruised to 4/158 with Liz (66no) and Nicki (38) capping of a good game. ROUND 9 A Grade played 2nd placed Bundoora. Needing a win to retain any chance of making the finals, Scott chose to bat after again winning the toss. We got off to a steady start with tight bowling and fielding restricting our scoring but we were able to get to tea with the loss of only 2 wickets thanks to Simon Salpigtidis (43) and Nick Ellks (36). The steady as she goes policy continued after tea before 3 quick wickets had us 6/140 and jolted Ell Smale (93) into action. Ell smashed the Bundoora attack to all parts sharing a 100 run partnership with Trent Wellington as we went to post a total of 9/260cc, giving ourselves every chance of taking the points. We got off to a great start on day 2 with a couple of early wickets keeping Bundoora on the defensive. In a great team bowling effort we only allowed them to put on one partnership of substance, with all the bowlers pitching in to keep the wickets coming at regular intervals, Trent Wellington and Luke Money grabbed 2 wickets each while the tight bowling of Scott Gibbs (2/45) and Luke Morgan (2/62 - off more overs than Gibbo!!!) at the death ensured that Bundoora were bowled out short of the target for 233 and keep A Grade's finals hopes alive. B Grade won the toss and bowled against Bundoora. Early wickets saw them fall to 4/31 after which they set about re-building the innings by not playing a shot. They were eventually dismissed for 145 having faced 26 maiden overs. Marty Anderson was the standout with 3/25 in 18 overs, including an incredible 10 maidens, he was well supported by Rick Bohan with 3/30. We moved to 0/14 at stumps. We lost one early on day 2, but a 50 run partnership between Mat Doyle and Simon Weightman (59) put us well ahead. From there it was fairly regulation as we passed them 6 down finishing at 6/158 when stumps were pulled. C Grade played at Whatmough Park on Sunday against Lower Eltham. We batted first after winning the toss. A wicket first ball had them whooping it up before Paul Bohan and Liam Money (30) were able to put together a 48 run partnership. A flurry of quick wickets around the drinks break turned the game as we fell to 5/71. A 94 run partnership between Tim Edgell (67) and Luke Eyre (28) and 100 runs from Tim Money (58) and the tail saw C Grade post an impressive 273. With 7 overs to face Lower Eltham went to stumps at 0/10. We grabbed a wicket in the first over of day 2 but it proved hard work from there as some steady batting and a little case of the dropsies had Lower Eltham only losing 2 wickets to tea. After tea our inability to take wickets proved costly as they were easily able to haul in our total, making 6/284. Tim Edgell continued his good form for the season with 4/36. D Grade also turned out on Sunday to take on Diamond Creek. Bowling first on the massive Coventry Oval we kept Creek to 151 thanks to Damien Caple (3/19) and 2 wickets apiece to Matt Newell and Brad Gedge. We didn't lose a wicket in the 8 overs to stumps to be 0/6 at the close of play.We made hard work of day 2, falling to 6/43 before a couple of good partnerships between James Gedye and Matt Newell (66no) and then Matt and Rian Boddy (28no) got us to 7/153 and just about snared D Grade a place in the finals. E Grade had a top of the table clash with North Eltham, who sent us in. We got off to a great start with a 63 run opening stand between Disco Dave Phelan and Sean Gaylor (43). It went a little pear shaped after that, with only Dave Salvatico (26) providing any resistance in the middle order. At 7/133 we were in a spot of trouble before Glen Smyth (58), Paul Sinclair (35) and Luke Gaylor (40no) put together a couple of handy partnerships to close at 9/268cc. Unfortunately North Eltham didn't have the corresponding middle order collapse as they cruised to 4/275. David Hoobin, Paul Sinclair and Colin Baker all grabbed a wicket each. F Grade had a day out against Mernda. Winning the toss and batting a 220 run opening partnership between Captain Stephen "Ragsy" Bowler (86) and Sean Money (80) set the scene for the day. We finished with 6/374cc with Nick Gaylor (41), Geoff Money (38), Jason Wood (23), Paul Lackas (26no) and some bloke called Rob Hoyne (1no) all contributing. Chasing such a big total, Mernda were never in the hunt and we dismissed them for 213. Sean Money capped off a great game with 3/4 off 5 overs, while Jason Wood and Ben Gibellini picked up 2 wickets apiece. G Grade won the toss and sent in Diamond Creek Red. Steady bowling all day on a lightning fast ground saw Creek dismissed for 240 in the final over of the day. Nathan Maley (3/47) had the figures while youngsters Seb Linnsen and Tom Bowman picked up 2 wickets apiece opening the bowling. We got off to a great start on day 2 and were never headed, making 2/262. U16 player Cameron Martin made and even 100no and was well supported by Nathan Maley (75no), and Alex Marr (34) as G Grade chalked up another victory. The Women's team played at home on Sunday against Geelong. They batted first and made 8/127cc, with Johnno taking 4/14. In reply we beat home the lightning and the rain to make 3/128, with Kathryn Ennor (45) and Liz Pierce (29 - off 11 balls!) leading the way. The Veteran's was called off owing to the heat.
ROUND 8 A Grade travelled to Mernda to take on the reigning Premiers. We won the toss and sent them in. In a team bowling effort we were able to dismiss Mernda for 158 in 61 overs. Scott Gibbs took 4/19, Luke Morgan had 3/13, while Luke Money chipped in with 2 wickets. We crept to 2/33 at stumps. A wicket without adding to the score on day 2 set us back early, but then a 48 run partnership between Simon Salpigtidis (35) and Nick Ellks (27) put us back on even keel. After the loss of those 2 wickets we were unable to establish another partnership of substance despite the rearguard action of Travis Baker (32). We were bowled out for 139 to record our 4th loss of the season. B Grade faced Mernda at home and batted. After an inglorious start, losing 3/1, we put together a couple of partnerships before brought us back to the field. We were bowled out for 165, with Lindsay making 46 and Riley Morgan 43. With 30 overs to bowl we set about our task that by stumps we had Mernda struggling at 5/63, with Mr Anderson and Adrian Craze picking up 2 wickets each. With the game in the balance we hit the ground running on day 2, collecting the final 5 wickets in 10 overs to claim 1st innings points bowling Mernda out for 93, Marty finished with 4/30 while Trent Wellington chipped in with 3/14. Batting again we raced to 6/130 on the back of Red's 34 and 26 runs apiece to Rick Bohan and Sam Bowman opening the batting. We declared with a lead of 202 and 34 overs remaining. We managed to take 7 Mernda wickets falling just short of an improbable outright. Marty and Adrian Craze both took 3 wickets. The win takes B Grade to the top of the Barclay Reserve ladder. C Grade played Eltham and bowling first knocked them over for 120. Greg Wilson (4/41) and Damien Caples (3/17) were the pick of the bowlers. We raced to 9/169 in reply with Hamish Sutton-Ryan (42) and Colin Baker (46) ensuring that we snared 1st innings points. We added only 5 to the score on day 2 before bowling again. It was much of the same with Eltham unable to combat the Wilson assault. He took 5/13 as we bundled Eltham out for only 83. With only 30 to get to secure the outright we made hard work of it, losing 5 wickets before taking the 10 points. The win moves C Grade to top spot. D Grade won on forfeit by Plenty. The second one-dayer was against Thomastown United at home. We were sent in and batted well to record 4/235cc thanks in the main to Jim Hartigan's 111no, the joy ended there however as we were unable to take a single Thomastown wicket as they made there way to 0/250. Despite the loss D Grade remain entrenched in 3rd spot, a game clear of their nearest rival. E Grade were sent in by Mill Park. A great opening stand between Sean Gaylor (60) and Dave Phelan (38) set up a total of 9/203cc. David Salvatico chipped in with 27. They started their innings well before 4 wickets in row to Luke Gaylor had the score at 4/53. Mill Park made their way to 8/179cc as E Grade recorded another victory. Luke Gaylor finished with 4/43 while Paul Sinclair claimed 2/20. E Grade are 2nd on the ladder, only 1 point shy of top spot in a very close competition. F Grade were away to Mill Park and were asked to bowl first. Jason Wood (4/19), Maurizio Cardinale (2/29) and Nik Martin (2/14) all ensured they were kept to a manageable total, being bowled out for 135 in 38 overs. Our batting failed to fire as we slumped to 4/22, a position from which we were unable to recover, making 120. F Grade remain in the 4, but are only a game ahead of 8th position. G Grade travelled all the way to St Andrews to play Lower Eltham. They batted first and amongst scoring 5 ducks, they made 7/203cc. Seb Linnsen was the star with the ball taking 4/31. We accounted for the total fairly easily with 4/207 in 34 overs. Nathan Maley (56no), James Dixon (50), Mark Parsons (40) and Alex Marr (21) all contributing. G Grade go into the final 3 rounds in top spot. The Women's team had an easy victory against Gisborne. Batting first we made 3/201cc thanks to Kathryn Ennor (75), Liz Pierce (55) and Johnno (35no). Gisborne could only muster 88 in reply with Johnno (3/7) being the pick of the bowlers. The girls are sitting pretty on top of the One Day Shield ladder with a massive percentage. The Veteran's had what may well be their first loss ever! Batting first we made 9/163cc, with Mark Maxwell (40ret), Joe Fleming (24) and Rob Archibald (24) scoring the bulk of the runs. Lower Eltham made 5/165 in reply. Mick Mansfield collected 2/24. The Vets will still be in the mix come March however as they are in second spot with one round to go. ROUND 7 A Grade are home to Plenty who sent us in. We had a reasonable start, with an opening partnership of 39 before the run out of Simon Salpigtidis set in motion a rash of wickets that saw us fall quickly to 5/55. A rescue effort from Ellksy (46) and Steve Gleeson (21) gave the scoreboard a degree of respectablility but their respective wickets saw another collapse as we were bundled out for 130 in 58 overs. Plenty started cautiously and moved to 2/44 in the remaining overs to stumps. Plenty started cautiously and moved to 2/44 in the remaining overs to stumps. Plenty lost another 2 early on day 2 but that was it until they passed our total. They finished with 8/207, with Trent Wellington returning the figures of 3/50 and "Jack" eludes us for another year. B Grade faced Plenty and bowled. In a solid display from both teams they batted all bar one over in compiling 227. Simon Vistarini was the pick of the bowlers, collecting his best figures at Riverside with 5/35. Travis Baker and Mr Anderson collected 2 wickets each. We are 0/0 off our solitary over. We started day 2 with a 49 run partnership between "openers" Simon Weightman and Rick Bohan before Mat Doyle (54) and Trav Baker (75) were able to put on 122 for the 3rd wicket to place us in a strong position. Liam Money (30no) and Marty took us past the total with 5 overs to spare, finishing at 6/234 and a solid win for B Grade. C Grade are playing Diamond Creek in the "match of the round" (according to the DVCA website!). We won the toss and batted and got off to a good start courtesy of Luke Baker (39), Dylan Potter (35) and Tom Money (48), going into tea at 2/140. The good work continued after tea with Paul Bohan and Nathan Bragg (27) putting on 92 to push the total towards 300. Paul continued to pick apart the all spin Creek attack to finish with 113, as we made 8/334cc. In a see-sawing battle on day 2 it came down to the final few overs as Creek maintained the run rate but lost regular wickets, we finally bowled them out for 322 with Tim Edgell (4/60), Colin Baker (3/35) and Adrian Craze (2/40) all contributing. D Grade had a one dayer against Bundoora. Bundoora batted first and were bowled out for 164 in 34 overs. It was an even effort by our bowlers with Nick Sonneman, Rian Boddy, Daniel Prucknor and Matt Newell all picking up 2 wickets. Our batting started well with Raph (24) and Anthony Dean (49) leading the way. Unfortunately very little followed as we were bowled out for 111 in only 27 overs. D Grade's second one-dayer against Lalor Stars finished similarly. While we made a competitive total of 7/227cc, with Mick Canik (55) and Raph (33) in the runs, an A Grade ring-in was able to belt us all over the park to get Lalor Stars over our total in only the 26th over. E Grade also had a one dayer versus Lower Eltham. We were sent in and thanks to the batting of Lachie Potter (45), Glenn Smyth (37no) and David Salvatico (35) we were able to post a very competitive 7/205cc. Tight bowling from Damien Dean (2/44) and Greg Wilson (4/22) ensured that they were never in the hunt, finishing at 8/166cc. E Grade also took on Lalor Stars in their second one-dayer and came away with a victory. After bowling them out for 102 on the back of Johnny Ringo's 5/52, we cruised to 2/113 with Lachie Potter getting 35no and Disco Dave Phelan 31. F Grade took on Lower Plenty in another one-dayer and came away with an easy win. Chasing 105 thanks to 3 wickets apiece to Jason Wood and Nathan Maley, F Grade made short work of it with Vince Macolino (34) and Maurizio Cardinale (32) taking care of the batting side of things. F Grade's second one-dayer versus Hurstbridge saw another victory. We made 8/172cc batting first with Nathan Maley (85) and Joe Bergman (44) getting most of them. Hurstbridge could only muster 111 in reply with Luke Gaylor and Jake Hodgson picking up 4 wickets each. G Grade are playing a 2 day game against Camrea Taipans, fortunately at home. They batted and were well held by our bowlers to make 9/198cc. Seb Linssen had the bowling honours with 3/42.
