ROUND 5 RESULTS

G Grade have already wrapped up first inning points while a few others are on the cusp - read all the details on the results page.

ROUND 5 TEAMS

The teams for this weekend's matches have been posted. Owing to Research forfeiting the C Grade fixture there have been major changes to the make-up of teams so please check carefully to see where and when you are playing. E & F Grades have the Sunday matches this round.
Congratulations to David Hoobin who plays his 300th game for the club this weekend (the 8th player to do so). Vince Macolino also lines up for his 50th.

ROUND 4 RESULTS

A terrific outright win for B Grade, a near outright for A Grade and 6 out of 7 senior wins plus the girls and vets make it a good week for the club. Highlights of the round include Trent Wellington's 6/40 in A Grade, Rick Bohan's 5/15 in B Grade, and first gamer Jason Wood's match winning 5/9 in F Grade - not bad for the wicketkeeper!
Read all about it on the results page.

WARM SEASON GRASS CONVERSION - WHATMOUGH PARK

The Banyule City Council will be commencing the conversion of the Whatmough Park surface to a warm season grass on Wednesday 4th November. This will cause some disruption over the next few weeks as we need to keep completely off the playing surface for 2 weeks following the sowing of the new turf sods, but the end result will hopefully be a beautiful, drought tolerant playing surface across both Whatmough Park Grounds.
As a result of these works training has been cancelled for Tuesday 3/11 (Cup Day). For the following 2 Tuesdays (10/11 & 17/11) only A & B Grade players will be required to train. Thursday training sessions will run for all grades but we will be utilising Greensborough Park (nets and ground), as well as the Whatmough Park nets.
Please continue to refer to the website for further announcement regarding training as we work through the disruptions over the next few weeks.

1000's NIGHT

The 1000's night was another great success with over 100 people attending the fun evening. Congratulations to Junior Committee member Paula Money on winning the $2500 raffle. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly Tom Money's call of the 9 race card from Royal Riverside (who let him have a microphone anyway!!!)
Thanks to all those committee members who operated tables, Kym Ellks and her band of merry helpers in the kitchen for cooking and delivering the food, all the bar volunteers (Hoobs, Riley & Tim Money) and to Mr Anderson who had calmed down sufficiently from Saturday afternoon to do a sensational job co-ordinating the event and the money.

CONGRATULATIONS

This time it is former player Kevin Ryan who has recently added another boy to his family - Caden Samuel. Congratulations Kev!

1000'S NIGHT - THIS SATURDAY!!!

The 1000's night rolls around again this coming Saturday. Tickets are still available for the $2500 raffle for only $50 and include entry for 2 on the night, 2 free drinks, plus finger food throughout the evening. The usual entertainment will be up and running so get a ticket, fill your pockets with coins and get down to the Ray Money Pavilion from 7:30pm.
If you have tickets can they please be returned by Thursday - sold or unsold.

PAVILION UPGRADE

On Monday night the Banyule council approved extra funding to ensure that the Pavilion project can commence. The council now needs to sort out contracts with the successful tenderer, who will then meet with us, St Mary's JFC and the council to arrange the commencement of the works. At this stage we are hopeful that building will commence in a month. The imminent start of the project is a timely reminder of any Target 40 brick pledges that are outstanding. To date we have a remarkable $35,250 promised, with around $30,000 of that paid up. If you need to pay for your brick then please contact our Treasurer, Marty Anderson.

TEAMS ROUND 3

Following a soggy Thursday training session the teams for Round 3 have been announced and posted - check the "Teams" page to see where you are playing. This round sees the Sunday fixtures kick off for senior men's matches, C & D Grade play Sunday this round, with all sides rotating through Sunday fixtures. Players should try to be aware of when they are likely to be playing Sunday and ensure they are available if possible.

If you missed out you are not too late - just go to the junior page to see who you need to contact!

PRE-SEASON CAMP

About 20 'siders ventured down to Dromana for the Pre-season camp this year. With the skies threatening on Saturday morning, they were greeted at Rye back beach by strong winds, a massive swell and a torrential down pour. After waiting in the car park to see if the conditions would improve the mornings running session was abandoned. The weather did manage to clear up in the afternoon to enable the Riverside Masters to be played in near perfect conditions. After bringing his handicap in after a good practice round the day before Gibbo took out the Green Jacket this year.
With much improved weather conditions on the Sunday the boys were able to have their first outdoor net session of the session at Tootgarook followed by some fielding and fitness drills.
Thank you to all those who made the effort to attend the weekend.

TRAV BAKER OFF TO WORLD CUP

Travis Baker has been selected to represent Australia in the 19 and under side at the upcoming Indoor Cricket World Cup, to be held in Brisbane in October. He needs to raise some funds to get there so we thought we could try to help him on his way by having a bit of a collection. If you want to throw a few dollars Trav's way please see our Treasurer, Marty Anderson, President Ellks or Gibbo.
Congratulations and Good Luck Bakes!
